I will tell you a tale you may only seldom hear..
A tale of a girl, and of her wishes for reality and regularity.
When she closed her eyes all she could see was what life should be.
The sun gleaming in over the hilltops.
The tide rolling over the cool stones at the bottom of the ocean floor.
All she ever wanted, to feel the soft embrace of a loved one.
Someone to whisper in her ear that when the sun set.
When the darkness grew and filled the land..
That she would still be standing, with her companion by her side.
Taking deep exhales of the chilled night air.
Squeezing her eyes tighter, she began to drift off on a cloud of falsified realities.
The utopian world she had created in her head.
Trying to sink deeper and deeper into this perfect society.
Where she was all of a sudden, alone.
In the middle of a vast desert with no salvation in sight..
Just when those same familar feelings of panic, discovery and dischord settled over her..
She grasped her senses and shook her head to fend off the bad dreams.
These omens and plagued thoughts cursing her mind.
Condeming her to a life of solitude.
The tears began to brim at the ducts of her eyes...
Afraid to close them again, for knowing that once she did the tears will begin to cascade down her cheeks..
The fact that she would have to accept mortal defeat.
When she felt like she could not have been more lost, more hopeless, more lifeless, more inhuman than she weas becoming on the inside..
A familar hand touched her shoulder.
Warm, reassuring and welcoming she smelled..
When her back finally turned to face the warm soul that greeted her, she was overwhelmed by beauty.
Beauty of the way the world should work...
The arms of this reunited stranger wrapped around and squeezed tight.
With the cold air whisping past, and the coyotes howling at the moon.
The only sounds that were left to be heard was the warm breath of the stanger breathing into my ear drum..
"The past can only harm you, if you let it.."
The voice said.
"The future is where you lead it"
The voice continued..
"But the present is now and all you have to do to survive it is to wake up each day and change yourself for the better"
A tear rolled down the girl's cheek as she smiled back up at the stranger.
"And when the past, present and future has you backed into a wall,
Know that I will be there in your heart, mind and soul for guidance"
The girl opened her eyes..
Cautious but expecting the fantasy world to be there to greet her when she looked around for the first time.
No one was there,
But in a strange way.
That gave her comfort..
For she knew that as long as she was living, she was never really alone.
She smiled and walked off into the night.
